Becoming a Doula is often seen as a calling. There’s something truly special about turning your passion into a meaningful career. My aim is to guide you in creating a birth work practice that is compassionate, holistic, and full of purpose—one that supports families according to their individual beliefs. Is This Your Calling? If you answered yes, you’re in the right place. Embark on a training journey that goes beyond certification—it’s a ministry at heart. Whether you're just beginning or an experienced birth worker, my program equips you to serve families confidently rooted in professional excellence. This Birth Doula program prepares you for Ohio Nursing Board doula certification, including Medicaid Insurance eligibility (optional). It covers essential knowledge, practical skills, and professional development for supporting mothers and families during birth AND the postpartum period. This 12-week training course and includes both on-line learning, regular zoom meetings and 3 on-site in-person retreat days to practice emotional & physical support techniques, postpartum support & practical experience & assessments. Retreats will take place in Saint Marys Ohio at my studio with a potential additional location in Champaign County. A note on Insurance Reimbursement & Coverage: This program was in-part developed with a grant from the Ohio Association of Health Plans to encourage more doula support that is critically needed, especially in Champaign County, including seeking to support health improvement & reducing health disparities among communities. This training includes support and mentorship if desired to become a contracted provider for the seven Managed Care Organizations under Medicaid. One contracted birth will cover all of your training costs Includes a 300+ page curriculum handbook (PDF). The handbook can be printed for $30.00. Each student will also receive a spiral bound 175-page Doula’s guide to labor positions ($75 value). The hands-on portion is critical to being an effective doula. All retreats need to be attended to receive certification. Once the participants are set I will do my best to insure everyone is available on the zoom and retreat dates & times.
